Ariens Classic LM21 S

You will comfortably roll right along with this walk behind mower…thanks to an ergonomically designed multi-position handlebar that reduces wrist and hand fatigue…use the adjustment brackets to easily dial in one of six cutting heights for a professionally manicured look…to keep you rolling…the mower’s baked-on powder coated finish resists the effects of moisture, fertilizers and chemicals for years of reliable performance…it’s all right here…to dependably cut all your grass out there.

Used my folks Ariens mower for over twenty years. Engine gave before mower did. Got the Gravely version when my LM21 conked out. A stump puller with the Robin Engine. Hope this is my last mower!! It is heavy, but thats why it lasts. Great Job Ariens employees. You make a great product. Using a Sno Throw over 20 years old too.

LM21S MOWER REVIEW

the average mass marketed lawnmower cant even come close to the build quality and power of the LM21S.the only mowers i found that were comparable were the other brands commercial units that actually cost much more.i was looking for a well built servicable mower instead of disposable outsourced copy of what used to be a good product.i am very impressed so far and will update after a season of use but i am confident that i will have this mower for a very long time.American manufacturing was once the envy of the world and still is in my mind.thank you Ariens and your employees for the reminder.

excellent mowing.didnnt improved traction over years(either to much friction with lever or speed increase with time with not enough friction adjustment (2nd unit). A bit heavy. excellent engine (kawasaki fj180v). well built.

Upgrade to the best! Buy an ariens LM 21S! The self-propelled on this mower is industry-leading it not only pulls you uphills but it stops you from rolling down hills when turned on. The other thing I like about ariens mowers is their use of quality engines most mowers on the market use aluminum cylinders which wear out very quickly the Kawasaki Engine has a cast-iron sleeve my ariens mower has a Tecumseh vector engine which also has a cast-iron sleeve. Honda mowers do not have cast-iron sleeves nor do most MTD mowers or craftsman this is a very good mower for anyone who want something that will last. The deck is very well constructed, my neighbor just throughout a Honda mower with a rusted out deck that was much newer.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Terrible Mower

The worst mower I ever owned. Bought it May, 2010. It will not start. It is not just me. 2 men (neighbors) had the same problem starting it. I only used it 4 times, and each time I had to get a neighbor who after MUCH effort finally got it started. I am waiting for the dealer to pick it up.

I have owned the same Ariens mower since 1992. During that time all of my neighbors have gone through 3 machines (Toro). I convinced my next door neighbor to get an Ariens about 11 years ago and they are still using that. They are great for bagging but I use mine almost exclusively for mulching and it does a great job. My boys used it in a business for about 10 years mowing anywhere from 10 to 20 lawns a week. But now I just use it to mow my lawn every week. The Briggs engine still starts on the first or second pull. My parents have now bought Ariens on my recommendation and love it. It has outlasted my brother's honda. It still looks nice. The paint job is the best in class. If you want quality and endurance Ariens's is the best.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a good mower, but wish it had the feature that you can shut off the blade without shutting the engine off. I often pick up small twigs and end up have to shut engine off. This is my first Ariens mower so will see how many years it will last.

Bought my LM21S in 1994 and it was my primary mower for 1/3 acre lawn until just a few years ago when I switched to a 36" walk behind. However, the Ariens LM21S is still my backup mower and is my primary leaf sucker-upper machine. Please reward yourself and run now and purchase the LEAF SHREDDER attachment kit. My LM21S in leaf shredding mode is the envy of the neighborhood each fall and throughout winter as it allows me to quickly mow/shred the leaves to keep the Fescue grass from getting choked out. A bag of Ariens LM21S shredded leaves is about as heavy as bagged grass the leaves are shredded so fine and packed in so tight.
Pros -- leaf shredding kit; split 45 degree handlebar design and bails best and most comfortable on market; friction wheel infinit self propel system best and most reliable; best bagger; above avg mulching
Yes, I recommend this product.

After the first off season I had to replace the needle in the carb to get it to start and run, this was in spite of using a gas stabilizer. That issue aside, this mower runs like new and cuts clean. It gets the job done.

Purchased this mower when I lived in Chicago in 1986. Move to NC then to Pa, back thru IL, to California, Maryland and now Virginia. Let me say this, it still runs great, cranks on first pull, and does a super job all these years. I have had no major issues, just a tire, a primer bulb, and last week the handle bar broke in half at the engage lever. But after a call to my local dealer, I had a new handle bar in two days and back at it. I thought about a new mower, but why? This is a super mower, and it still looks great!

It took some research but I am happy I finally found this Ariens LM 21 S lawn mower. THE GOOD: I bought this mower 2 years ago and I'm convInced it's perfect for me. Even with imperfect grass from the drought this mower makes it look great. It's easy to start, easy to mow with and always looks good doing it.
THE BAD: 3 Honda, 2 Toro, 2 Craftsman. It was always the same. I was convenced that there was no walk behind rear wheel self propelled mower that didn't have trouble after about 6 times of using. I think they were all made as a bad joke. It always started with the rear wheels locking when pulling the mower backwards.
Yes, I recommend this product.
