I bought the machine last year and it worked well. This year it would not start, changed gas, re set plug. The machine kept back firing when the engine was cranked. Bought new spark plug and gave it a shot of quick start in the plug hole....now it works. Can this machine be fitted with electric start and if so, what do I ned to purchase to do it please. thanks and Merry Christmas

This is a very afforable machine that packs power and easy to use. 120V electric start is a great freature when you just don't want to pull that rope. It has a big gas tank 2.7L so you don't have to refuel as much compared to some othe snowblowers.overall this is a great machine and best one i owned so far

Sno Tek 22

Record amounts of snow in southern Finland this year totalling 70cm so far. Finally decided, after many years to buy first snow blower as driveway is 100m long. The Sno Tek proved its worth the first time it was used. Robust, easy to start and handle and chews up and spits out the snow with no trouble. Very reasonable price compared to its competitiors. What would have taken half the day to clear is now done in half an hour. Could recommend this model for its reasonable price and strong construction to all.

Choke broke

Everything is good about this bare-bones/no frills machine EXCEPT the choke lever (plastic) is vulnerable at its connection with the choke; the tiny plastic connecting pin broke, leaving the choke on all the time! I had to drill out the remaining base to enable the insertion of a metal pin cut from a coat hanger. This works well but highlights a serious design flaw; this should be fixed with a metal choke lever.

had a hard time getting the snotek-24 to propel itself (direction doesnt matter) in snow. had to push as well on a flat as well as shallow grade. was surprised to see only one wheel was powered. thought both would be. that was a big disappointment. thinking of getting chains but only found for 15inch wheels. this one has 13inchers.

Strong throw was the principal feature I needed and the 24 gave it to me. Immediate starting is terrific too. Also the fact that the chute points slightly beyond 90 degrees means close into the house I can cast behind the machine instead of onto the building. Proven performance in 18 to 20 inches of powder and 6 with rain on top.

Great snow blower when we first got it. For some reason it has now developed an engine leak between the bottom of the engine and the top of the transfer case. Its only one year old and I have to fix it. Not very durable or robust.

Great Product for a Great Price

Received my snowblower in Dec 2010 just before a record breaking snow fall here in Connecticut for the month of Jan 2011. The first storm was 22 and this machine worked GREAT. The 9.5 hp engine and 24 wide machine moved the snow with no problem at all. All I can say is WOW what a great product for a great price.

Awesome! I just blew away 24 of snow here in Wisconsin with the sno-tek 24. I was amazed that it broke through the compacted snow at the end of my driveway pretty easy.

Starting problem

Bought the Sno-teck 24 last year. Have problem starting it this year. Tried to clean the carburetor. The carburetor looks complicated unlike the others I saw on you tube. Tired to contact a dealer for parts and service advice. Tried to go to home depot in Mansfield, ma. The did not have parts. The gave me the wong spark plug to replace. Had no clue about how to clean the carbuator. Then went to Canton equipment dealer in Canton MA. The man said he does not have parts and its very difficult to change spark plug or carburetor as he himself does not know how to do it. Basically that he couldnt do anything to help and that I am stuck with a lemon !

Did you put in fresh gas at the start of the season? Old gas even with fuel stabilizer will give you problems if not addressed.

Not for sloping driveways

Bought this model hoping for a decent entery level machine. This only has one drive wheel and cant navigate slopes or move drifts...AT ALL! May be decent if you have a very level surface.

Probably can be made two wheel drive
Posted November 21, 2011
Read the manual. Most likely you have a pin lock axle that can be made to engage the other wheel by inserting the pin through the wheel hub and axle.

The axles have a pin that can be moved to an alternat location converting the drive from one whell for manueverability to 2 wheels for maximum traction.

Within the first 200 feet of use, the wheel fell off and the cotter pin was lost. I replaced it and moments later the shear pin for the auger broke and the machine was useless. $672 for junk. The shear pins arent covered under warranty. Returning it tommorrow

Shear pins are meant to break and are easily replaceable.

Fantastic snow blower. bought it before the big storm several weeks ago. Unit works great. it has two drive wheels you can engage them using locking pins. I bought it from Chief equipment in Freeport, NY they are the best.

I used this machine last year not only to do my own property with a 65' long double driveway, but also my neighbors. It cut thru 3' and 4' drifts of heavy packed snow with no difficulty. Just let the machine do its job at its own pace. Threw the snow a considerable distance, too!

Just picked my 24" Sno-Tek up a few weeks ago to replace my old Toro single-stage. We used it over the weekend for the Halloween blizzard. I had 14" of snow in my part of New Jersey and it handled it like a champ. Too early to comment on durability and I wish it had a headlight but on a price/performance scale and knowing its an Ariens I give it top marks.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I read the manual and followed the instructions and prepped the machine, started in with the plug-in then by hand. Both were easy to do. Ran it around the driveway and put it away for the first snowfall. Really like the ease of handling.
